Bamboo question?
« on: May 02, 2010, 11:08:10 pm »
I built a Bamboo backed Maple bow, and painted the Boo, and sealed it with poly. I bet you guys know what happened. The paint is starting to chip off >:(. Now i need to get the paint off. What would you guys use to take the paint off? Didn't know about scraping it off,. Didn't want to damage the boo any. Thought of Acetone. This is the first time i have used Bamboo for backing, so all info is greatly appreciated.

Read on the paint container for what is used to clean brushes, etc. Use 0000 steel wool and that solvent to remove the paint. For the paint to adhere to the boo you will have to remove the rind first. Steel wool  or fine sandpaper should work OK for that and should not threaten the boo backing.
