holmiesorta thingy
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:57:59 pm »
hey this is a bow i built today from a red oak board bias ringed . my intention was to see how fast i could make it . i've heard board bows could be made in an hour . this one is 66 tip to tip  48lbs at 28in two inch wide for the bending portion , and the levers are shorter at nine inches than would be normal . i lengthened the bending portion to reduce set, i wasnt all that confident in the red oak. all together with finish and everything about 45 min on this one. and maybe 1/4 inch of set

Hey Ken so you wanted to make a holmie eh?  Looks good how does it shoot?

Time, dedication, cuts, tons of broken rock, a wife, and perhaps a few girlfriends are some of what it takes in becoming a skilled flint knapper!!!

How many molegabets ya got now? Ya know what they say about nothing new anymore? That bow ya made looks just like a museum bow that I guess is Huron....this one is bendy handle and not rigid like yers.....but........here's a pic of that one.
Ya made a nice 'un bud!!!!
