 For those that asked...Making that yellow wood black was not easy. I first tried black leather dye but that didn't work. I then went over it with a huge black marker and that left it streaked. So I went back over it with the leather dye again and that made it as black as I wanted. But............the finish wouldn't dry.   I waited a week for one coat of poly to dry, and it never did.   I rubbed/wiped/scraped/sanded most of the old poly off and re-applied it. Then a week in the hot box later it was dry.  It took me over three weeks to get a decent finish on this bow.   If I had it to do again I'd have just painted the dang thing black and been done with it!
