First attempt at Damascus
« on: March 12, 2010, 04:53:57 pm »
Been wanting to try this for 15 years and finally got to it.  I started with 5 layers 2 high carbon (old files) and 3 mild steel.  Forge welding, drawing out and folding I got to 80 layers.  Then made this knife from it.  The handle is Lion leg bone it had some cracks so I wrapped it with rawhide.  Hope you enjoy.

That is awesome.  Been thinking about one myself, your work just inspired me to get on it.  Thanks for posting.

Looks cool

I'd sure be happy with that first try. That pattern looks good, now put ya a razor edge on. ;)
