I have some maple and a strip of walnut that I thought of making as the backing. The maple is 3/4" thick and the walnut is 1/2" How thin do I need to make the walnut?

I always try to make the Backing Strips 1/8 to 3/16 thick...no thicker

id saw the maple 1/8 back the walnut with it walnut not a good backing wood brock
