Not sure I like that turkey you carved. Hmmm..... Maybe a deer, or elk? and some fir trees in the backgroud? We will see what happens.

Interesting stuff there Ken. I really am interested in the history of all bows, and just to be able to recreate one is awsome. Probalby not exact replicas but its cool and fun.

Hey Tell,
You never did say how long it took for you to do the carving, also how was it carving on the red elm? just curious?

HE,

I was very cautious and it took me about 4 hrs or so, from layout to finish, plus about 1/2 hour to paint. Some spots were tougher than others to carve but overall when I got started it wasnt to bad. I used a dremel tool with a small round carving bit, and it worked great.

would red or white oak or even persimmon make a bow in this style? is it possible to make a two piece or even splice billits to make this style of bow? if these questions have been answered in some fashion in this community, i apologize. would like to know which reply would answer these questions so i can read and get some ideas. thanks.
