Did you ever put those tips to the test? Been wondering.
Alex, as for the tips...agony of defeat! :( We got the bow to a low brace Saturday on the tillering tree, and had flexed it beyond full brace. However, Sunday I had a short string I was attempting to full brace it with for the first time while using a stringer. The glue joint gave way and with my right hand resting on the top limb about to put the string in the groove while pulling up with my left hand on the handle, the sudden break of the glue joint also I'm guessing caused the top limb to break just out of the fades as well due to my right hand on the limb not moving while my left hand on the handle was pulling up. My right hand was scrapped up a little, and there was a large piece of the tip I still haven't found. :o

Live and learn...I had made the tips pretty small which reduced the amount of glue surface from a strength standpoint. Also angling from the tip toward the handle on the belly with the piece of hickory had a lot of stress on it. I was hoping the coco-bollo overlapping the joint on the back would support it though. I also used TBIII, and maybe it wasn't up to that stressful of a job. I think I had a good glue joint, but it's possible it could have been flawed I guess. Whatever the reason or reason's, I have another bow to start and try to finish pretty quick if I'm to have one done for a friend coming to the Classic.

Oh well. That same tip profile using only two peices, without the questionable extra glue line would be fantastic. Or even using three peices like you did but with longer glue surfaces (hence more cantilever on the osage also) and maybe some smooth-on instead of TB? Bet that might work, and would be very unique.

Great birds, guys.

Had a hen try to commit suicide yesterday evening. That was all, but made for a great hunt.
Just remember, you can't put the wood back on.

I had a great time while down there!  Had the pleasure to spend some time with Jesse and get to know him.  He is a great guy and very talented. We hunted "Kansas style" Tuesday evening but, the turkeys gave us the slip. We ate good, shot some turkeys, bows and the bull.  "Life is Good" at Twin Oaks.   Can't wait to get back down there in a month.  Pappy, thanks for the bow, I really appreciate it and will try to make you proud.  I do have pictures of Leapingbare's turkey but, I'll have to wait til my daughter gets back from AZ. Oh, I've got more of Pappy's bird too. It was almost a limbhanger!  Bye for now.

Dave, enjoyed spending the day with you last Saturday! Always enjoy hearing your turkey stories! Thanks for the stuffed peppers, I carried some of them, the venison and brown beans home and my boys wiped out the peppers! Which bow did you end up carrying home...Pappy give up the take-down? ;D

Congrats on another turkey Pappy, I sold Don my old truck yesterday and we scouted his farm while there. Saw some turkey's and scratchings pretty much all over.

Yes Greg I got "Second Chance" , I just hope to do good with it and make Pappy proud.  It shoots great!  I wondered where the peppers and venison went. Jesse and I looked for it Monday for lunch and no luck. Glad they enjoyed it. Can't wait to get back down there. Cause "Life is Good" at Twin Oaks.  The place should be hopping when I get back.                               David

Think ya can show me how to hunt those birds if I pick up a hunting license when I get there Jesse? I think I have birds on the brain right now.

I really need a break right now! Ma was back in the hospital last night. She's fine now but we had another scare.

Wheeeew! Nice birds, Pappy. Osceolas don't get that big, but the spurs are longer. There going to be any left when we get up there? I'm going to bring some of my Japoleno breast and Teriyaki  turkey sticks, too.
