Shawn got his billets cut and ready to glue up.I decide to brain tan a hide so got it soaked and rung out 3 or 4 times, so a good start on it. Brats for lunch, if we keep eating them like we have been I may have to make more before the year is out. ??? :-\ I had a good friend come by and wanted me to make him a bow rack out of some turkey legs he had killed this passed year and also put some handles on an old meat fork and butcher knife, not like I got nothing to do but love these kinds of projects and helping out an old friend, so I jumped right on it.  :)

I pegged the turkey legs so I could tap and bolt to the board, they are pretty strong when you do them that way, the handles are made from deer leg bones i save through the year. Hope yall had a good one also. :)

Living the dream down there, Pappy! I'd like to try a hide someday. After drying and scraping are they basically rawhide, usable for backings?

Thanks Bob, we ant as good as Gary was [he was the best I have seem at splices] but improving all the time.  :) :) Yes it is just rawhide until you tan it, I always save a few that have other problems just for projects and backings, funny hides are like bow wood, seems they all have some sort of issues, some can be over come and some not so much, so they going into my project stash.  ;) :)
