2nd blade fitted , just need to tapper and it will be ready also to heat treat and temper.Got Beau's bear head caped out, I can skin a critter but not very good at close work like capping a head so Shawn came over to give me a hand, he use to do a lot of trapping and is good at skinning a head and keeping it in good shape. Always good to have friends with skills and don't mind sharing them.  :)

Got the skull boiled and cleaned up. Jesse showed up on him way back to Mississippi , he wanted to get a couple of hides scrapped and into rawhide, the weather wasn't that good for that so we moved the hides close to the fire and that dried them out great. :)

Deer toes done and my head cleaned and peroxide added to make it white . Sally isn't doing well, she has stomach cancer and no one knows but the good Lord but my guess is she it not going to be with me much longer, she will be 12 Easter Sunday and has been a real Blessing for me. :(

I think the skull looks good Pappy.  The knives are  looking good too.  I sure appreciate you making those.  I did get you some more brains Saturday.  Got a doe at our place.  First one I've seen all season there.  Been a slow year for sightings for me on our place.  Good luck on that 4 pointer.

Many California tribes use deer toes on regalia and for rattles.

Thanks Bob, love my dogs, the bad thing is they usually don't live as long as we do  :( Ben maybe that is where Jesse got the idea, he spent some time out west. :-\  Dave I will get around to finishing the knives at some point, hopefully sooner than later.  ;) :)

No rush. I know you have other things going on.  I'm at Jim's right now trying to get you some more brains.

Pappy, so sorry to hear about Sadie and no, none of our dogs live long enough.
Beau's bear skull looks really good. :OK  Are you gonna use the skin from the head? make a hat or mask?

Not sure yet Pat, got to figure out how to soft tan it, make a lot of soft tan buck skin but brain tanning hair on usually don’t get as soft as I want this to be and it is really thick hide which makes it even harder to get soft brain tanning, anyone got any ideas please let me know 😉 Pappy

So sorry to hear about Sally . We lost our little Zoey a little over a year ago. Was truly heartbreaking.

We have (two) year and a half old puppies now. They can’t replace Zoey but they sure do try. I was always a dog person too. I went to many years without one after losing one. I’m glad we have them again.

I wish you the best with the difficult times ahead.
