I remember those hot, humid August 15th hunts in the SC Low Country woods and river swamps. Don't think I could do it these days though.

If I was not staying in an air conditioned cabin Friday night and walking out in the cool of Sat. morning and returning to the air when I want, I would not be doing it either, Pat. I am going from there to our lease down the road to put up a stand and make sure the roads are clear. I am not looking forward to the drive home after that. It is just a couple hours but I will be tired but a good kinda tired. There will be an ice cold Sierra Torpedo waiting at the house. That's my plan to make it bearable. Now Sept 1st is the 1st day of rifle at the lease but no does until Sept. 15 and that is opener here in the upstate for buck and doe with the bow. It will still be blazing hot and not weather to be camping without air condition. I always have to remember what a transplanted friend from Maine once told me "if you don't hunt in the heat in SC you won't hunt."

Looks like you guys had a good time at the shoot- Will be up to visit Camp in two weeks on a Sat early morn for breakfast, looking forward to it.  Need to start a new Bow also, Osage or Hickory?  Too many choices in life not sure where to start. Guess I will just pick whatever is on top of the pile. See you the week after next.

I will be there this coming weekend vincetrama but not the week of the 22nd,Miss Joanie and My 42 wedding anniversary weekend so I will be out of pocket.  ;) :) :) Had a great weekend and managed to get a lot done. I got the Elm bows roughed out and on forms to dry/got my knife project almost finished and dog wood bow well on it's way to being finished. Got all my salt licks out and tractor/bushhog serviced and ready to do some work as soon as I get some time.
Here are a few pictures  of the fun. :)

Handle almost ready to finish. New bow hanger for the practice range.  :) Putting out some salt licks and looks like we are going to have a big persimmon crop this year. I have 10 lick on my farm that I have kept up for years and the deer really love them.  :)
