Friday ,off 3 days, opening weekend of Deer season, this is hard to beat. :)37 opening days for me this year  :) Headed to the cabin as soon as I can get away, :)got a few little details to get finished up and then some shooting and tradition of sharpping broad heads. Got some deer roast laid out and Jimmy gave me some fresh backstrap yesterday, been home 48 hours from a 9 month deployment and already got deer in the freezer,I told you that boy love to hunt, ;) [Hickory selfbow]and is pretty good at it also. I might add he has a very understanding wife. ;) ;D ;D ;D Got the snake skins on Kevin's bow day before yesterday and started sealing it yesterday, hope to get it sealed up and headed home next week,I got one caost of sealer on my Mullberry bow, hope to finish it up in the next few day and try and get it blooded this season. Hope yall have a good weekend, mine is shapping up so far to be a pretty good one. ;) :)

I expect harvest photos on Monday morning.  I'll be thinking about missed opportunities while I'm at work all weekend :-\

Good luck this season Pappy.  Bad news for me.  My season is done before it started.  I broke my ankle last Sunday at the gun club.  I've been in limbo all this week getting xrays, cat scans, and an MRI.  I meet with the ortho on Monday to find out about surgery.  Dang it!  Oh well.  There must be a plan for me that I dont know about.  I try and have faith.

Glad you are home safe Jimmy.  Good luck to all of the other Twin Oaks guys and be safe.  Somebody push that 7 pointer to Pappy stand this year.  We are rooting for him up here.

Good luck this weekend, Pappy. I'm heading to Chris Cade's for a weekend hunt. Lets have bunches of pics of dead deer on Monday(Tuesday for you). We can't let Jimmy show us up.  ;)

Well it's about 10 minutes after daylight on opening morning.  I suspect the deer herd around Twin Oaks is considerably thinned by now.  Hope Pappy got that 7 pointer he's been after.  I haven't seen anything yet here at work.

Real time 12:15 I am setting 18 yards from what I think is my 7 point, shot him 6:50 this morning , hit to far back , gave him 4 hours and now I have walked up on him and my bow is at the cabin, so I am just setting and looking Pappy

Man Jimmy that is a nice big rack. Good that you found him even it it was the following day, not knowing the fate on a hit deer is agonizing.  Its amazing how they can sometimes survive that long after a perfectly placed pass thru shot, but somehow it happens on occasion. The thing about selfbows is you know a good shot at impact, arrows not moving 350 fps so you can see the hit, just shear determination on that deers part to survive.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.
