Well they say this is ths shark tooth capital, alot of the teeth that are found on the beach are small and been tumbled in the sand for years. There are lots of fossils to be found by diving or in creeks etc.If your down this way give me a shout.

sorry this is off topic

bone pile  i just noticed youve got "venice florida" underneathare you from there?
and is that the place witthe beach that you can find fossilized sharks teeth on?
i only ask cause i will be in fla. sucking up the sun in 9 days and have heard of this beach, urban myth or true?

If that doesn't work out for you try the peace river in Arcadia.  Either right by the bridge, or rent a canoe from one of the outfitters and paddle up stream a bit.  Bring a shovel and a screen.  Water is a bit chilly right now though, the plus side is that the gators are really sluggish. ;D  Let me know I may be able to loan you a shovel + sceen.  Heck I might even join ya if the water isn't too cold.  I'm about 30 min south off of SR 31 (goes right into Arcadia).

When I finally get back to the computer I'll post some pics. Went for the clovis but it was too thin to flute. I hafted the jasper blade too. Got some cooked texas and knocked out another knife and point. That cooked stuff is awesome to work with. I may get spoiled!

Swamp bow, I have a friend who lives right on the Peace River, in Arcadia.  I would like to get together with you, and do some huntin.  He has a big ol hole in the river in front of his house, and has brought up some neat bones.  I have only found tiny shark teeth, and manatee rib sections, and turtle, and armadillo shell plates.  Not to mention the damn beer cans that the slobs who float down it simply toss into the river.

thank you. it was called fancy jasper. have no idea where it came from. picked it up from riverbend. that was a really clean piece. the rest is riddled with green concrete. its knappable but tough. was actually gonna ask if anybody knew if it could be heated or not.

Wow!, those are pretty. Tim, if you snorkle or get some tanks and get about a 100 yards off shore at Venice, you can find some big teeth. That is if you aren't afraid of Hammerheads, ;)
