Obsidian knife/Elk antler handle

Just a little something I put together. The blade is mahogany obsidian and the longest blade I have made to date. I wish I had taken better pictures of the blade before I shipped it.  :-[The handle is elk antler. It was my first attempt at scrimshaw. I had to sand it off and rework it a couple of times in several areas so the horn got a little thin and I had to stop. I hope you like it. The overall length is about 12".

Oh yes, the stand.... I copied the idea from one I had seen somewhere, but I cant remember where. It turns out that bug eaten wood is good for something.  ;D The holder is a piece of antler cut for the blade to fit in and screwed to the base.

Very nice work.   Not only does the knapping look great, so does the handle and stand.

Thanks everyone.......... I wish you could really see the flake scars. It isn't just the biggest I have made, it is without a doubt the best I have made.  ;)
I need to get some more elk antler to practice on now.

 Beautifull chipping, Bud, and that is a nice looking piece of Obsidian. Good job with the scrimshaw, too.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it. Now if I could really learn how to knapp. I am just a slab knapper.  ::)
Eddie, I wish I had as much of this obsidian as I do the other colors. Unfortunately I don't find much of the mahogany stuff. I was told where there was a whole bunch, but haven't been able to find it yet.
