When I was in China for a month back in 2000 I was told by a student that to them silverware seamed cold and impersonal and he could not get used to the feel of steel in his mouth. After just a month of using chop sticks. I understood what he was talking about. I think of bows in the same light now. Cold aluminum or plastic doesn't ever give the warm feeling of wood or leather in the grip.
