Here’s a little photobuildalong from my latest bow.
It’s made of Osage Orange I imported from Nebraska.
I call it Pech, which means pitch. There’s a saying in Austria, “Sie halten zusammen wie Pech und Schwefel” -> “THEY HOLD TOGETHER LIKE PITCH AND BRIMSTONE”.
It means that it is very difficult to separate for instance two people or in the case of the bow, to saw the stave in two.
Wood: Osage Orange
Length: 63,77 inches
NTN: 63 inches
Drawweight: 41#@27”, can be drawn to 29” with no problems
Arrowspeed normals release (10gpp) 160fps, max 164fps
Arrowspeed quick release (10gpp) 172fps, mx 176fps
Width at the handle: 1,5 inches
Maximum width limbs: 1,4 inches
Width upper nock: 3/32 inches
Width lower nock: 5/32inches (a little wider, because the lower limb has a little twist)
Flat back
Rounded belly
Bends slightly in the handle

Buffalohorn tips, the lower with lateral deerantler reinforcement
Handle reinforced with rawhide and flaxfibres
Handle built up with 3 layers of leather wrapped in leatherband
