Bow Making Wood

         Howdy,
  I've been one of those lurkers around here for a good while,just trying to learn some of this,by reading ya'lls posts!Came across this reply in another post,it was about Hackberry being a good wood for a bow!Man,i got hackberry all over my area. Going to get started on my first bow,right after the holidays!This is a great place!

Welcome Ernie. I've never made a bow with hackberry but I have some beauties here on PA.

Welcome to PA. Hackberry does make a pretty good bow. If you have plenty you can build different styles and tell us which style works better.

Ernie,
I love Hackberry. Find pieces that are fairly straight with few knots. Season for a few months...really important! Season it and it makes a fantastic bow! 3"-6" logs aren't hard to split and not hard to debark either.
