ERC Reflex Deflex
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:09:47 pm »
This is my latest bow I've got finished up. I've had a board of erc in my garage for the last year so I figured I had better make a bow out of it. It is 66" ntn 1 3/8 wide at the fades tapering to 5/16 at the tips and pulls 35 pounds at 28". It started out with 1" of reflex and settled in at 1/2 inch of reflex. The grain in the board looked a little iffy so I added a backing of silk to be safe. The silk added a nice effect to the back as you really can't see it, there is just a few shimmery streaks of white. The overlays are sonoran oak. I wanted this bow to come out with a triangular strung profile which I think I did pretty well. When my brother saw it he said I should name it Bermuda.

Nice work, that is a pretty wild design for ERC, congrats for pulling it off.  How does it shoot.  Also that is one of the cleanest looking signatures.

WOW that is a crazy profile. Never seen one done like that .

Very unique design.I like it.How does it perform? Did you work it on the tree quite a bit? ERC has me a tad apprehensive, because I had a well tillered bow go BOOM!!,for no apparent reason. :o Be careful with it. ;)

Hi Justin,  Cool bow!   The profile reminds me of the Egyptian type horn bows from the pharoah's tombs.  ERC is fun to work with isn't it.  Ron

Yes it is a little different :D, but it seems to shoot great. I'm sure it will out shoot all of my other 35# bows, i'm not sure if that's because of the design or not. Thanks M-P that's the look I was going for. The inspiration for this bow was a combination of the egyptian bows and marc's article on his deflex recurve bows. Thanks everyone.

Nice looking bow. The Red Mountain in the background is like PatB's shed, a signature for your bows.  ;D
