Hickory backed Jatoba finally done!

Well, I managed to get through this build with no major malfunctions!  The bow is 70 NTN and somewhere in the 70# range @ 29".  My scale only goes to 50# and that maxed out in the 23-24" range.

Beautiful!  -  if you succeed in getting through the tillering without the Jatoba fretting on the belly, than you have a real nice bow that shoots very well! The one my neighbour made looks nicer every time I see it again.
How wide are you at the tips?? Looks like you could gain some performance by narrowing them (don't be afraid...)
Tiller looks good; maybe a bit to bendy at midlimb lower limb!

Thanks guys,

The limbs at their widest are 1 1/4" tapering down to 3/8" tips, the handle is only 1".  I was trying a narrow profile for something different so the limbs are actually fairly thick.  There actually is more working limb in the lower than the upper but they came out within 1/8" at full draw so I left it alone since I needed a heavy bow and didn't want to scrub any more weight.  This is for a swap and I was actually shooting for 75#. 

I learn a little bit more with every bow.  This was fun being my first wood backed bow.  I have enough jatoba and hickory left for two more so I may have to build one for myself!!

Very nicely done! I'm a big fan of jatoba, and I haven't had any problems with frets. Your tips are pretty stiff, but that'll make the bow very fast, and your tiller otherwise looks good.  ;D

nice bow!  I really like the contrasts in the different woods of the handle riser.  Tiller looks good too!  -josh  :)

very nice.  i always found jatoba to be excellent bow wood.  its usually easy to find straight grained boards.  never had a problem with fretting, in fact a rounded belly seemed to work best.  great looking, well tillered bow you got there!!!!  those narrow limbs should be fast.

 Very good looking bow. Jatoba can be a very challenging wood. Any flaw in the tiller will result in frets. Congratulations
 Seems like more of a chocolate brown then the Jatoba that I've worked.

Thanks guys!  I got it on a scale today at Sportsmans Warehouse and it came in right at 70# @ 29"!  I'll shoot a few dozen more arrows through it and get it shipped off (Maybe in time for Christmas Kegan  ;)).  My daughter saw the wood combination and now isn't nearly as satisfied with her Red Oak bow I built for her this spring...  I guess it might be time for a father/daughter build!
