well as of late i have been on a clovis style point kick
thanks to leapingbears rock and all the pics hes been posting.
i made a couple i posted nad afew i didnt,even made nice one from som goldstone,need to glue that one back together.
it broke in three pieces when i gave it the final whack for the final flute.
well got tired of percussion knaping tonight.

so i threw the bopper back into the bucket.walked over to my storage shelf.
looked thru my last few remaining slabs of material.
i found a piece of moohkite(sp) that i bought at a rock shopway back around march or so.back when i first got bitten by the bug.
i told my self not to touch this slab untill my skills had improved.
well tonight was the night that i decided my skills had progressed enough to do this rock justice.
and i believe i did just that for the rock.
this is some tough stuff,this blade is 5" long end to end,1 1/4" wide,and under 1/4" thick(havent checked with my caliper yet)
lately a blade or point this size i can do in about an hours time,this one took a litle over two hours tonight.
tjhis stuff just seem to want ot be sharp too,dont know if it shows in the pics,but my bloods on that blade.
heres a couple of pics for ya'll,let me know what ya think.

VERY well done!  I love that stuff. I've only ever had a couple pieces of it and broke one of those. The other, I made Pappy a knife blade from. It gets sharp and is tough enough to stay that way.
 That piece there, would get hafted to a handle and used!

i gotta say i am proud of the blade,i have just the right piece of blood wood for the handle too
i plan on buying some more slabs of this material,i really like the finished product.even though it is pricey to buy preslabbed.

Mullet: you said heat treating will make it knapp like obsidion. at what temp and how long would i do that at?

the wife donated her old elec roaster for my hobbies ;D,damn good woman. glad i found and kept her(or is it that she kept me)

thats a good un Tim. just from the looks of it i think that rocks been cooked already. i think cooking it changes the color so the rock shop or the place they got it from might have already cooked it.

 Naw, it hasn't been cooked, I can tell by the picture. Tim, toaster oven all night at 450dgs. I just stick it in and turn it on. Get up to got to wor nthe mornig and unplug it. Take it out when I get home. It will break a lot easier knapping it though, along those pretty lines between the color change. Be gentle and grind.
