Hazelnut Bow Milan
« on: October 20, 2009, 05:42:27 pm »
Hi!

Here are some pictures of my favourite targetbow.
It is made of hazelnut 72" long and draws 45# @ 27".
Shoots a 424 grain arrow with 168 fps.
The limbs are 1,1 inches wide at the fadeouts and the nocks are 4mm or 0,157 inches wide.
It shoots without handshock, and the arrows are pretty fast for it's drawweight.
The nockoverlays are made from buffalohorn.
The bow has no stringfollow.

Here you can see me shooting the bow.

Nice Bow- I like the finish and style of the limb tips - what kind of stain did you use to finish it?

Hi Allan!

I used common red, brown and black woodstain from a joiner near my home.
It is mixed with disolver not with water. Water-mixed stains let the woodfibres rise and you have to sand the bow everytime you stain it.

Very nice!

I really like the tiller. Seems something like the bows described in TBB4 on page 122-3 to me.

it looks like a holmegaard to me, no?

The handle don't bend, the limbs bend, but the outer limbs don't bend?
