Going on a rock run. pics added
« on: October 01, 2009, 12:18:30 am »
So two nights ago me and a buddy stopped by this little privet pizza joint and the guy making the pizza was showing another guy some artifacts he had found. I started talking to him about flint knapping and though the guy never tried to knapp, he was telling me about a bunch a flint he Sees at one of the places he hunts arrow heads.
Well Abby and me went and picked up a pizza from there tonight and he said he would like to get me some of that rock, so i asked him were he was getting it and he gave me directions and drew a map.
From the way he described the rock i think its Sonora Flint also known as Kentucky Blue. Going to go check it out tomorrow hope it pans out.

You are lucky.  Good pizza and stone
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather to slide in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW WHAT A RIDE!!

Not a bad run. I got about 150lbs. mostly arrow head sized stuff.
I drove all over the area but only this one field had the rock.
It is Kentucky Blue some of it looks sorta like horn stone though. Its real glosses and flacks very well.

I'd say that's Ky Blue.  At first it looked like Sonora, but if it didn't come from Hart or Hardin Co. it's not Sonora.
I don't think it's hornstone either. Ain't that stuff in nodular form?
Either way, it looks like super slick stuff.  I hope you come up with a ton of it. ;)
