are there any good splitting tools for bamboo

i used a hatchet and  a hammer on my last 3" diameter piece.   just started a split and then hammered on the back of my hatchet to continue the split the length of the bamboo.  Hope this helps!   :)  -josh

I have a bamboo splitter.  I pulled this picture offline.  Get the four way splitter- it works best.

I use a knife and follow a natural split.  When there is no split, i use an axe.

Machete or knife.  Hatchet is useful.  I've been wondering, though - what do people use to get it flat for backing?  A belt sander?  Sorry - don't mean to hijack the thread...
