Another Hazel

Here's another Hazel also inspired by that buildalong, the Mother of all buildalongs. This one is more basic, no tempering, recurving and the belly is flat.

It's 70" long and draws 45 pounds at 27". The set is 2" just unbraced. There's a little twist in it also. It's my number 5 and the first unbacked.

I would really be grateful for any comment on the tiller, and please don't hold back. I am all about learning moore and "training my eyes"
The upper limb has a natural deflex-reflex and the lower a reflexed limbtip. I guess it makes it moore difficult  (or moore intresting) to get them bend evenly.

From my point of view both limbs have equal amount of draw length, but the lower limb (reflexed limbtip) has a moore smooth profile.

Nice looking bow.  Good job, the tiller looks good to me.  When there is some natural reflex in the limbs it tends to comfuse the eye when tillering.  But overall I would be happy with it.

Well done. See how it feels in the hand when you shoot it. Note if the limbs are tippy. That is if one tips towards you or not. If it does it is the stronger limb. Of you can gave someone take a pic at full draw that way you can see if one limb is stringer than the other. I see that a lot with my bows one side of the tiller tree seems to yield a stringer limb. Rick is right the eye is confused. Jawge

Hope , you don't mind me saying....
It looks like the bow is clamped on the tiller rig, I'd have though this could give a false impression when tillering, as in the hand the pow is free to pivot. I always try to support the bow exactly where it will bear into the archers hand.
I'd be interested to hear other people's views on this.

Thanks a lot guys!

It feels pretty good shooting, but I am even more a beginner at that. I've been way to busy building bows and other stuff.

I can see what you mean about clamping, I'll keep that in mind. Like I said I'm extremely grateful for any advise.

Don't know if it's wordy to be a candidate for bow of the month, it may break tomorrow..

Here's more photos. One without clamping and a full drawn. I keep my arm pretty low when I shoot sort of aim by feel more or less, it saves my bad back.

Maybe the upper limbtip points a bit more towards me? If that's so then I should have it as lower limb. Is that right apprehended, George
