Looks purty rough to me too. Maybe some intense heat would help. Looks like some kind of quartzite - you may win next months challenge with that stuff :).

 Take a hammer stone and beat on it when you find it. It might save you from hauling a load out.

Hope you thanked yer wife for wanting to stop ;) That quartzite is anger management therapy, beat the snot out of
it and all yer anger goes away ;D
