sinew the tips?

quick question for the more experienced.

I am doing a reflex slightly recurved bend through the handle yew selfbow. 60 inches.  It is sinew backed, but I did not sinew the last 6" of each tip as i figured they wouldn't be bending.  Is this a problem?

would the sinew help hold the recurve in the tips from being pulled out,  and
will the sinew try to pull off where it ends on the limb?

I think the answer is "no" to all the questions.

Not sinewing the last 6" is OK but you've got to wonder why the NA's never did this...they always sinewed the entire limb.
I don't think sinew will help prevent the tips from being pulled out...unless the sinew was laid on thick (and heavy)....which is not a good idea for tips.
The sinew will not want to pull off if the transition is gradual and if indeed that area does not bend.

It depends on the bows form. I have a wide limbed maplebow (60mm widest part) and she has thin arms. One tip cracked down, where the loose slipknot of the string rests. I`ve made a sinewwrapping here as well on the other tip. No problems anymore. 60mm isn`t the overall width. The last 8" it runs to about 3/4" wide tips. The limbs aren`t backed.
Otherwise I agree to Jackcrafty.

If the tips aren't bending, no need for sinew, just more weight at the tips where you don't want it. I would wrap it where it ends.
