Yeah, the handle cut was offset for center fire. First time I tried this. I have to get it in the hands of someone who can aim it at things to see how that works. Shoots nicely across a field.
The 2x6 from which this was ripped had pretty nice grain orientation throughout the mid portion of the boards, with the grains turning out willy nill in the out outer parts. Probably contributed to splintering in the bending.
I boiled the ends for 50 minutes for bend them and they were still pretty stiff. Next time, I'll steam them out of the water and I have to set up a better form. I'll do another one this summer
