Ideas for next months point
« on: May 22, 2009, 08:26:14 am »
I really like this challenge thing, makes one think outside of his normal "want to knapp" self. Lets start thinking about next months point, Lay down your ideas here and we'll all kinda figure out what's next, unless someone wants to just step up and demand" We are gonna make this ( ----------- ) this month". ;D

Lets hear um.

Don't matter to me...I like 'em all.  I would like to see pictures of the different stages though:  original spall or flake, preform, and final (front, back and side).  Maybe a picture of the real thing?  Also a picture of the tools used?.....OK...I'll stop now. ;D

Oh God...not a CLOVIS!!!  I've been trying to make one for an anthropology professor and have broken 3 or 4 in a row.  But if ya'll wanna try it, I guess I'll give in!

We can always make bird points!  YEah!  Little tiny cute and fuzzy bird points!  Oh, I just love those bird points!  I just want to hold them and pet them and love them and caress them and sleep with them in my bed and feed them and give them water and talk to them......uh...ya'll aren't still reading this.....are you?   :D

Billy, How bout clovis bird points? Does that make you happy? ;D

I'm in the same boat. I can get the first flute to work perty well, but that other one always gives me fits. Need to learn how to set that nipple, so I rekon I would vote for Clovis.

All percussion?Raw material? ABO?  ;) (just had to ask). >:D

I read the whole thing billy - kinda like one of them billboards that reads "does advertising work? just did" :D. Clovis works for me, anyway you can make it. I'm going to lean towards all abo but haven't gathered the billets yet..

Clovis sounds good to me, especially with it not touching one of those damned implement-of-the-Devil lever fluting jigs. :) I can get one every now and then, but I dive that second flute right through the middle of it most of the time.

It ain't all lost, Paul. Try again on the top half or just make a nice hunting point from it.  If you start with one long enough, you could possibly try 3 or 4 times on the same point. ;)
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.
