Well here it is, my third bow.
« on: April 23, 2009, 10:21:14 pm »
64" NTN, 56# at 28". Deer hide backing. Bubinga tip overlays. This is my first sttempt at overlays. It is also my first attempt at really shaping a handle. This bow is a lot of firsts, really. I gained a lot of confidence and probably learned more from this one bow than I did in my first two combined. I had advise and bandsaw help from GregB and Pappy. Greg also lent a watchfull eye to my first heat reflexing job on this one. Thanks to everyone here for the tiller and crack advice.

This is the bow from the snap, crackle, pop thread. The crack has not opened up or spread after several days of shooting, I really hope I'm in the clear. You'll see that I left plenty of wood at the arrow pass. I studied a lot of bows after that crack formed, and have seen plenty that run thinner at the arrow pass then this one. I dont know what caused it, but reducing it by ten pounds and a goodly flood of thin superglue seems to have fixed it.

Here you go.

Wow that is fantastic especially for your 3rd bow. You definitely had some of the best tutors that a guy could ask for. but still that is a fine looking bow and shows your attention to detail. Congratulations

Thats a great bow, regardless of it being your third.  The overlays look good too.
