POS Bow

Well Im gonna call this my POS bow. Looks good butttt..........

This is actually the sage bow I started a while back. was really excited about it. was gonna try to make it into an elk bow for this fall. actually got too excited and in too much of a hurry and wasnt careful enough with my tiller. rushed it... .and learned a good lesson. Raised a nice splinter on the back as I was bending too much near the handles. glued it down and raw hided the back with deer raw hide and saved it. and retillered it better.

It is shootable. doesn't shoot too bad. a little hand shock but not bad. pretty fast. a little reflex left after final tiller and shoot in.  It came in right at 45#s at 29. it is 66" NTN.

I'm not crazy about the handle wrap. I used hair on buffalo hide and think I will end up redoing it... but right now I have a SE D-Bow in the works that is pulling 60 at 29 and I'd rather go finish that one up than mess any more with this one.

It is kinda pretty tho i think. Anyone wanna trade for something?

Bow looks nice! Tiller is perty sweet.I think I like it better with the handle wrap off.

Its bending way more at the fade on the lower limb than the top one. Why not cut it down a little and retiller? 66" is way long for a osage bow anyways....If it were mine I'd chop it down to 64" and try to get that area right off the fade on the top limb bending more.

Very nice looking bow, love the SSs. I think I'd have to agree with Ryan, but I wouldn't pike it. Just get that flat spot above the top fade workin' a bit more, and she'd be even more sweet! Nice work.

Ryan,

Yea I know it looks a bit stiff up there. but that is the area that popped the spinter. and it has just a bit of reflex in that area. So second tiller around I left it a bit more stiff. Thought it might protect the "weak' splinter area and didnt want to over tiller with that woop-te-do.
Look at these photos and knowing that the splinter is under there tell me if you still think I should re-tiller that area more.

well now looking at that pic again close.....
I'm seeing flat spots all over the place...

Am I seeing things or are all the red arrows flatspots? This bow has driven me nutz... well maybe after I finish up the other one I will come back to this one and rework it...... a bunch. ..

what do you think....? am I going crazy? or do all these areas look stiff to you as well?

Don't over analyze it wade it looks like the tiller is ok and I'm willing to bet the bow will last for many long years,
move on to the next one :) Just no more of dem fuzzy buff grips grips eh ;) :D

The hair will probably wear out of the grip if you shoot it alot, and may feel funny if it gets wet.  I looked at the pics several times and would probably leave it alone.  You may end up with a 30 pound bow with no flat spots.  Just my opinion.
