  The reason I don't want it in BOM is because of the chrysals.
I think any bow that is obviously flawed is not BOM material.
  A bow must not only look good, but more importantly BE  good to deserve a vote.  Good...As in well tillered and reliable.
 Not saying this one's junk.  Just that it's flawed and IMO not worthy of the contest. ;)

Shannon, sometimes there's some internal flaw in the wood that keeps it from making a reliable bow...I'm sure this is the case with your's, although with the precautions you've taken with the sinew it might still have a long life. It is a beauty though! :)

Great bow as always, Shannon.  I love the tips, the skin, the handle, the profile.  I would not worry about the chrysals.  I have made many bows that have chrysalled somewhat, but they still shot well and held up after many shots.  Read Billy Burger's article in the latest PA about some problem bows that have turned out to be great hunting weapons.  I agree about BOM, though.  I think those bows ought to be about as "perfect" as we can get them.  Can't wait to see you at Pappy's in May.

If you are worried about the chrysal and it is bending correctly glue a small rawhide patch over the portion of the belly that is cracked and wrap with thread. I've never had one fail after doing that.
