Good quality, 100% pure linen thread (without wax) is probably not available at your local craft store.  I have to buy mine online.....but I can't remember where I bought it last time.

Here's a link to thread that I know is NOT waxed:

If you don't mind using a thick, rustic looking linen thread or cord, you can get it locally.  Here's a link to a thread here on PA (excuse the pun ;D):

If you use thread with wax on it, you won't be able to glue the thread down easily.  And the only arrow finish that works over wax is wax.

Both waxed and unwaxed threads will work for the fletching.  You should be able to get natural color for both types....but it might take a little more searching.

Yeah Im not gonna glue em anyways. I use that method that Richard uses in one of his videos. I just finished a set of arrows using silk but that was not so authentic. Another question :-\(why cant I aks em all at once? :P) what is the most traditional color? Btw i think i'll stick with the Hollanders site.

The thread in the link will work for whipping, personally i prefer a smaller gauge for my arrows but to each his own eh!?
If you take a look on Steve's website you'll see the silk i'm talking about,it's not expensive.
I allso use Gutterman's thread but not very traditional :)
