First Bow Attempt , need advise
« on: August 25, 2008, 02:50:59 pm »
I'm going to give building a bow a try. I'm looking to make a maple board bow , 64 - 68 ", hopefully 50 -55 #@29". That's my ideal but I'll settle for a shooter of whatever #  at this stage.. I'm thinking a bendy D bow will be easiest . Can anyone give some advise on starting dimensions for this . Do you think a D bow or a pyramid bow easier to do?
Happiness is..

Look at a lot of the pictures of other bows on the forum, there are lots of different designs. Choose one you like and use similar dimensions. Take your time, and don't go on to the next step until the one your on is perfect. I got my first bow to within 1 pound of the draw weight I finally chose. It just took forever. LOL ;D I'm slow but I get there.
