It makes a good bow even though it is physically heavy and a very hard wood.

My old time best friend who moved to Canada still has one of my only dogwood bows. That was 10 years ago and it is still going strong. Very good wood

Makes a good bow, made a few and they worked out nice, not the fastest and a little heavy in the hand but I kind of like that, they shoot nice and stable.

Good deal fellas I'm excited to try as many wood species as I can. I read it isn't ring porus so is it like maple then? The saw cuts were rough so I couldn't see the rings very well.

what the others said. It's dense and heavy => make the bow narrow and thick....it can handle an elbish cross section.

Correct its diffuse porous like maple. Great stuff to work with. Be careful around pin knots and funky grain when roughing out, so you dont get any tear out.
