Well, if you can put up with his hospitality, generosity, wealth of knowledge, and his interesting character, he can walk you through a decent bow!  You could have picked a worse mentor for the project.

Will, and I are good friends. He came over my place today,and shot the bow through a chrony with a heavy Dacron string, and wanted to increase the speed of the bow. I tied him a 10 strand  D97 string , and the bow increased  speed by 11 fps.He went home a happy man. I also gave him an Elm stave. He gave me some sinew,and not long ago a copper head snake skin,and an Osage split stave that was iffy. It is finished ,and I will post it soon.

That's nice bassman did that for you.It's good you guys are within driving distance of each other.I usually only get around 8 fps more or there-a-bouts with FF.That's determined by the amount of mass difference during the change.
To be sure about your bow though you did a fine job tillering & that was on your watch.Glad it came together nice for you.

It was a really thick Dacron string Bow Ed. If I go 10 strands of B55 ,and compare it to 10 strands of D97  I pick up more like 6 to 8 fps. I am now playing around with 8 strands of both materials on my low poundage self bows. Haven't done enough testing yet for results. I have helped him tiller bows,install risers, heat treat etc.,etc. He is also my source for shorter Osage staves with flaws that I have been able to get some decent bows from. He is also one hell of a turkey hunter.

Those are nice profiles! I like it!
I do my resizing for pics with preview on Mac . First crop the pic, then bring down the resolution to 72 dpi and resize the pic to HD or less.
