Stupid question, but if I were to keep my eye out for a plum tree, would I be looking for fruit on it in the fall that looks like a normal plum, or is this bow wood a bit different?

I think I would grab any plum. Some say purple leaf is the best. I haven't tried it. The secret bit of plum I've found is escaped from an old place. It has round yellow or red fruit. Nice wood. Just hard to find.

Actually, in my country is not hard to find wild plam. Yellow and purple fruits my mother used to making excellent juice, and our grandfathers for making alcohol drink. We recently started to use plam for bow making.

Thanks for the information. I will have to talk with my forester friend and ask him if he knows of any around here.
