Black Spruce is hard and heavy with interlocking grain. I started working on a Black Spruce bow many years ago but had to give up on it. Been thinking of trying it again

The Douglas Fir turned out alright....I backed it with 1 good layer of Sinew....and I shot it hundreds of times before I sent it to Australia to a Buddy of mine for His 12 year old Birthday Present

I've got a shed-pile of Douglas Fir around here. Anything to look for when I'm out shopping in the woods? Also did you keep it fairly flat? I wonder if it would put-up with a Holmegaard shape and keep the working limbs wide.

I made a Paddle Bow from it.....2 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" in the Handle...one good layer of Sinew.....and it was right at 45 pounds and shot pretty quick too.....
