juniper decrowning?

i have a 44 inch juniper stave i got from a small trunk and it has a lump on one section, about 13 inches long. if i give the bow a healthy sinew backing can i rasp it off?

Unless you are wildly violating the grain, take it down to the shape you want, for the most part ignoring then grain, the sinew will be taking the tension load.

thanks High-Desert i'll go for it! and DC its for vanity mostly ;D. i think it would look a lot better with the high spot removed. the reflex/deflex sinewed shortbow that  240m3srt just posted just made me want to make one. That was the style of bow used in my area back in the old days. (SH)

If a yew or juniper bow is getting a decent sinew backing, just shape it how you want

With juniper ( like yew as well) you don’t really need to follow a ring anyways (although it’s recomenes), if it’s backed so what ever the heck you want.
