Turkey wings

I have been given 2 roadkill turkey this past year. I have seen a few vehicles that have struck them, surprising how much damage.

If I had been coming back from Ottawa I would have brought the whole thing with me as I'm pretty sure I could have salvaged some meat.  I came across another roadkill near the Toronto area some 10 years ago, he was a mess.

A fellow I know had one fly down from it rost and slam into his passenger side windshield. That'd wake you up.

I usually get a few road kills every spring. I got one so far this year.  I carry sidecutters to clip the feathers off.

Here in southern Iowa I see a couple every so often along the road too.Even an occasional turkey vulture but they are supposed to be protected.It's that time of year.The strut.I just take the wing off quick with the pocket knife.
Got quite a few stripped in the bag.

This one had no spurs so I guess it was a hen.  Lovely feathers and the tail was in great shape so my wife will make a fan out of it
