I don't doubt Orrums knowledge about rocks at all.
just been going by what the sender said it was, but I would like to know for certain.
I looked up pics of  Deschutes, Biggs and Owyhee jaspers and all I can say is WOW! WOW! and WOW!
Awesome rocks!  I need a truck load of each.

I'm gonna go look up the original trade topic and see who sent it to me and refresh my memory a bit.

OK It was a man named Greg V. (not sure if he wants his name used or not) from Idaho who attends the glass buttes knapin.
The comments in the thread revealed that this rock came from a mine that is now closed, or was closed as of April 2014.
That's when I made this point after getting lessons on working slabs at the SW Louisiana knap in

Go to the Succor Creek area of Oregon on the border with Idaho and you will find picture jasper everywhere. The Deschutes is very expensive since it doesnt really exist anymore. Other than Biggs and it the rest have to be heat treated. I have a bunch of Deschutes arrow point preforms sawn out of slabs.  Picture jasper is famous because it has scenery like rolling hills or mountains with cliffs, lakes and blue sky!!!   I will try to post a pic of a Wild Horse knife with China Berry handle that my mentor made. I slabbed it and  heat-treated it. It's almost all from the sky part of the picture jasper.  Hans somebody or other wrote two books about Owhyee mountain picture jaspers. I have been there rockhounding and it's the most awesome wild rugged out in nowhere place I have ever been!!!

If your wife is anything like mine she grabbed that one so you wouldn't put it on an arrow and lose it in the woods. lol. I can hear myself now "this will be my lucky arrow!!"  :D that point looks incredible, a masterpiece. I'd be proud that she wears it.
