A few of my recent projects
« on: January 04, 2017, 01:52:28 pm »
Besides getting the shop reorganized, I have been keeping busy with a couple little projects.  Two beaded slit pouches made while I was spending a few weeks in Poland, a new shooting tab and several Mongolian style arrowheads.  The arrowheads were made from an article in an old PA magazine, cold hammered out of spikes.  I want to make a small forge this summer and try doing them with heat.

Nice looking work! When you say spike are you talking about actual nails? I'd like to know more about how you made the arrowheads. Thanks- Brendan

Thanks for the comments. Pender, let me do a bit of digging for the PA back issue. They are like a 3/8th diameter nail, about 8 or 9 inches long. The end is hammered flat, then filed and sawed to shape.
Badly, the white beadwork was inspired from bead patterns in fingerwoven pieces from the great lakes.

I thought the patterns looked Great Lakes style ksnow. I was just looking at some similar bead patterns on some na sashes from museum pieces  online a few days ago and found one pattern I'd like to paint on bow limbs. It was pretty similar to your pattern and also done in white beads. I was already plotting an eastern woodland style bow build to use the design on. Again thats some good looking work you did.
