straw rain coat

one of my projects is to make a straw rain coat or grass cape.
I'm in the stage of collecting references.
It seems that almost every part of the world developed his own version (also for clothes and shoes) and obviously it should be a functional equipment if so many adopted it.
Do you have first hand experience making it? pictures, tips ideas? it should be pretty good also as camo. Ghillie suit sort of.

I attach a pic of a very refined and still produced version.

sorry, I was trying to be helpful in that Mino is the name for the Japanese version and there seems to have quite a bit of info online on how to construct anything samurai related not to imply that there aren't 100 other regional variations

No worries. It's an interesting idea and I got curious and poked around a little. I have seen them being made from everything from bundles of straw to straw door mats. I know those are thick and heavy
