I think I heard that It was also in florida, maybe all over, but the good news is that it responds well to modern antibiotics as it is bacterial.

If you go out west you see signs warning for bubonic plague. I have seen them in Arizona and Southern Utah.

Old news. Bubonic plague in the South Dakota prairie dog population for years.  Treatment is some very basic antibiotics.

Thanks for posting the great detailed info willie.
It is interesting that the area where the plague
is concentrated is in the 4 corners region.
That is where most of the hunta virus hub bub
came from several years back.
It may be old news in the west but what if it is
 traveling towards the east where folks like me
are ignorant of it. Could it cause folks to be infected
and not get checked for it because they are unaware
and think it's just some other malady. Or folks from
the east that go afield and come back home with it.
There is also the need to be aware of the potential mutations
in these pathogens that can become antibiotic resistant.
I hope all members here read your info and pass it on.
We are an outdoorsy gang here. Better safe than sorry imo.

Cases of plague pop up several times a year, and each time the media makes hay like this doesn't happen several times a year since forever, lol.

A positive side is people are less likely to just randomly kill all snakes.

A buddy of mine contracted anthrax this week in washington state. Aparently endospores live on livestock, deer, even soil. He had been tanning hides the day before with gloves on. He has livestock too.
