My First Bow

Hi Guys, I finally got up enough nerve to post my first real primitive bow, this is from a hickory stave cut and split in Nov.2013 and started in Sept. I'm just taking my time with it.  The bow is shag bark hickory 64" ntn and I want to hit between 45- 50 lbs. I have it on a long string now,any comments are welcome.

Hey Ghost,
      From the little I can see in the top pic looks to be a fine start, But ya better get her on a short string asap.  That long of a string is going to cause you grief and aggravation. It would really help for you to take pictures of her unbraced (unstrung) and also a better pic that shows the grip and fades.
      Like I said it looks to be a fine start, sir. 8)

Ok here is a unbraced pic and a pic of the limb and fades. The knot is very solid and in a non working part of the bow so I left it just for looks

I dont see any issues with your grip fades (or grip for that matter) Get her on the short string and keep at it.....very good start so far.

Looking good to me and yes I would say if you started in Sept. you are taking you time. :) They always say don't rush it and you took that to heart I see. ;) :) Move on and take the advice above, ready for low brace it looks like to me also. :)

ok so I needed a little push, here she is almost finished, added sheep horn tips and a sheep horn rest, the leather grip will cover all but 1/4" of the arrow rest, she's pulling 49lbs @ 27". I
m sorry I can't get a full draw pic right now I have a bone spur in my left shoulder and I can't pull it back all the way. I put on 3 coats of Pecan stain and 3 coats of tru-oil and 2 coats of tru-oil wax. The lower limb looks a little funkey but it has some natural character to it that flattens out as the bow is drawn. I will have full finished pictures poster this weekend
