Christmas project for my boys
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:08:00 pm »
Four boys.  This would have been a lot easier if they would have gone to bed on time.  Too many late night homework assignments meant I did most of the work on these between 11pm and 1am.  I had fun doing it though.  The feathers were from a trade of some elk leg skins with Jojo.  Tips are ground brass nuts (see the topic below) and the shafts are bamboo garden stakes.  Wrapped with artificial sinew.

Nice arrows for sure. I would like to know more about those tips
Like how to make them they look good and very interesting.
Did the Native Americans think about all this that much or just do it?

Good on ya!!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Jeff, awesome work. You are quite the craftsman. I love home made gifts.
If you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got.

thank you for the kind words.  At least one of them (the one with the new bow, too) listed this and his other bow stuff as his best Christmas gift.  The others are too enamored with the second-hand PS3 we got them.  Oh well.  Like Joe, I really enjoyed making as many Christmas gifts as I could this year.  I also made two flint-knapped heart necklaces for the wife.  the hand-crafted stuff feels more genuine to me than something I pick up at wallyworld.
