blisters on the index finger
« on: July 26, 2014, 07:21:19 pm »
I have a really amateur question but how can I keep from tearing the skin off my index finger when shooting?  I use a tab.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Yeah, I know, I had a lot of smart remarks for myself.  I use the pinky for nose picking.  I shoot 3 finger but it's just the inside of the index finger (or fanger) that gets ripped off.

Switch to a Damascus glove instead or get a Tab that's not too small.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Is that the Tab they called the "Mit"? with the pocket between the fingers. That was a good one. I just used to smoke cig's back then and hated dropping it out of a stand when I lit one up

Eddie,
I'm not real sure what Pappy calls a finger pinch tab................but I've been using this one for a while, might have to make me another.

Thanks!  I have a tab like that one.  I'll keep shooting until I get a callus. That should help. Ha!  Thanks again.

I don't use any tabs and I do fine.  You just have to work up to it.  When I started shooting heavier bows I had to work up to it to form calluses.  I'd just shoot 10 shots a day and work up a little.  One day I shot too much and got blood blisters on my middle and forefinger.  I shoot with a tertiary grip and it works well with bare hands.  I still don't shoot more than 50 arrows in one session usually.  That's just the way I do it.
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

That's the kind I use DBar, can't pinch the nock with that one. I can shoot bare finger fine, just don't want to do a lot of it and rough up my dainty finger tips. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
