Turkey's!
« on: July 15, 2014, 11:13:16 am »
So I'm just getting started at work this morning. We are fixing a pole light about 60 feet up in the air on a lift. There is a patch of woods close with a small field between us. I looked up and there were 4 hens and about 20 babies that came out into the field.  Needless to saw we wasn't getting much work done watching the turkey's. It's nice to see that the coyote population is somewhat reduced. It was a beautiful sight to see. Patrick

Cool! Enjoy seeing the hens with all their polts this time of year in the field chasing bugs.

A world without hens and their poults is a sad place where I don't wanna live.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Y'all can keep em! They out compete quail and coyotes out here and they damage lots of vehicles flying off of cut banks along the roads.

Few years ago I was brush hogging my place.  As I was mowing just along the fence a Hen flushed and ran a short distance.  I got down and looked and she had her nest with a clutch of eggs in it.  I backed off and left it unmowed and got to watch her from a distance for the next week or so set the eggs.  Fire ants do a number on them here but these all appeared to make so far as I could tell.

It's all private land, so pressure is light compared to State land. Lots to pick from - some real Beard Draggers. Bob
