Altinative Backing

  Ok i am making a very special bow right now, its 58'' ntn and has green and tan stone overlays and i am ganna use the same stone for the arrow rest, its also sinew backed. I am trying to think of a cool backing that would look good with the stone and the osage, I do not wont to use snake skin or rawhide.
 Any ideas would be awsome.

Carp or gar skins?  Or dye some sinew, I've stained it with walnut hulls to turn it brown.

i got gar skins but there only about 12'' long
i dont think i wanna use gar.

rawhide, or tow linen both look good painted.

The coolest and oddest looking backing I have seen on here was Pappys grass carp. It was a biggun and the scales were large and added a very interesting texture to the backing that also retained a certain natural camoflage. That would be my choice.  Danny

I've never used it but some bows on here were backed with sturgon (sp) skin.  I also like the look of some salmon skins.
