« on: November 26, 2013, 09:59:30 am »
I have a property that I deer hunt here in north east Indiana. there is a farm house with really old growth huge Osage trees surrounding the homestead and they are looking for someone with interest in buying the trees from them!! I thought this forum would be the best place to help them find a buyer. If anyone is interested in the trees please let me know and maybe we can work something out. thanks everyone

there is around im guessing here about 15/25 trees, now I dont believe it would be a buy one you buy all type of thing. And im not sure if they are "bow worthy" as im no expert on this. the trees are full grown well over 30/50 years old and again im guessing on this as im only 32 and have hunted this farm for over 25 years. The trees have always been full grown sense then. they are big and drop huge hedgeapples every year. The owners said they would like to sell them and I thought of this forum as a great place to start. If anyone has any advise on what to do "cut down and up for firewood, sell for stave's or what else are full grown Osage trees good for? please let me know.

Old trees in Indiana !
Could have a lot of bows in each tree !! (right Clint )
See what the Amish are giving for fence post and go from there !
Not much market for fire wood with all the dead ash trees around !

Chris if you come over let me know I want to watch !
I hope these folks let a few Bowyers in before the fence post folks start in !
Maybe if we all descend on them we can make a dent in them , or maybe there is nothing worth looking at ! You know how this stuff can go !

Yeah guy...I'd want to see some pics of them...can u take some pics please?

What diameters are we talking? And you should be able to tell if there clean and straight, and not all gnarly nasty looking...some characters fine, but it still needs to have a straight trunk and with at least almost straight bark running up the tree/trees....otherwise it might just be fencepost worthy wood?

It's not really the members that are talking about making money though, just the fact that a member knows someone not affiliated with the site who has stuff to sell.

I will take pics when I get back out there. I didn't post about the trees for a joke, I thought I could maybe help the owners out and get someone a good source of Osage. Yes there are old trees in Indiana and there is patches of Osage also. I will post pics ASAP.

Sorry about the money talk, I'm not looking for anything out of this just thought I would pass the info on. If this thread is out of line I'm sorry and I have no problem with it being deleted.
