Just out of curiosity, when you draw the bow can you see any movement in that check? Does it get wider or narrower or just sit there?

If you mean the short one that I bellied with Ipe, the Ipe chrysaled so it became firewood. Now I have a half dozen OS staves drying. Maybe after Christmas I can start making chips. I thought you were supposed to get more patient with age. I just keep thinking that I'm running out of time ;)

not bad kid, not bad at all :) fantastic even.

oceanspray is one of those woods that CANNOT break. ive taken 3/4'' staves and dang near bent them in half and they barely splintered. its just one of those woods that doesnt get enough credit, like osoberry.

Yup OS is amazing stuff. Need bigger pieces and try to cut thin lams out of it for backing. ..

The OS over powered the Ipe.  OS should be fine by itself.  Natives on the West coast used to make hooks and spikes from it.  Many nick name it here (Iron Wood)  It would make an excellent prod for a Xbow.

Don, I haven't noticed much movement in the crack but i'll check on it.
Thanks Bryce, and it's funny how common it is, i guess some people don't see future bows in little OS bushes  ;D
Again thanks for the nice words!
