Texas Longbow -- swap bow for ********
« on: August 17, 2013, 11:51:02 pm »
This is my swap bow someone should be receiving in a couple of days.  I'll let him post full draw (and a couple of tip pics I hope, mine were blurry >:()

Nothin super special except a lot of love and fighting to get this baby into a worthy bow.

*about 68" ntn
*Hickory-backed osage
*Texas Longhorn nock overlays and arrow pass inlay (a first for me)
*High 40s at 28"
*Stiff middle, rounded rectangular cross-section becoming more round toward the tips.

Made in Texas, from native Texas materials, by a Texan, so it's a TxLB ;)

Hope y'all like, especially the recipient!

Very very nice!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

SWEET!! :)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Thanks Steve, Joe, Arrowind, and lesken.  She didn't turn out exactly as planned, but sometimes you just gotta go where it takes you.  She was going to be an ELB, but just kept scootin further away from that, hence the name.

Now I will say she does fling an arrow QUITE nicely, that part i was VERY pleased (and a little surprised) with ;D

Saw the mail man walking up with a nice PVC tube in his hand today, and I immediately got a grin on my face even before I opened it. This bow is awesome! Thanks for the effort you put into for me. This is the first "backed" bow I've ever had and she sure looks good. I can't wait to get out and shoot it tonight and get some pictures up. Thanks again Kevin!!!

That turned out nice!  Lucky Duck!!
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso

I placed the grip right before i shippd, so i haven't shot'r with it on there, but it felt about the right placement.  Hope you don't mind shootn off the hand ;)
